Summer Dance Camps in California

Many performers on stage and screen have backgrounds in the disciplines of dance. Learning dancing techniques often starts early at dance camps. California has a variety of dance camps that are offered during the summer months. These camps provide instruction in several dancing disciplines to campers. Some of the California dance camps are designed for more advanced dancers, while others are open to all skill levels.

The Pali Overnight Adventures Dance Academy offers one-week or two-week dance camps. During these camps students will learn techniques of various disciplines, including jazz, hip hop, ballet, free form and contemporary dance. Professional choreographers are hired to instruct the students and help them to develop their skills while teaching them how to avoid injury. The two-week camp is for the more advanced dancer, while the one-week camp is designed for the beginning dancer. Students who attend this camp will pick out music and choreograph an original dance routine to be performed at the Pali Showcase at the end of camp. Campers between the ages of 9 to 18 are welcome to attend.

The UCLA dance camp focuses on dance styles that are used on stage and screen. These disciplines require specific techniques. Professional choreographers challenge and teach the dancers at the camp the techniques that are commonly employed on Broadway and in theater shows. In order to attend the dance camp the student must be in grades 9 to 12. Unlike some other dance camps, the UCLA camp does not require the campers audition to be accepted into the camp. The camp is a week long; meals are included in the registration price of the camp. All camp attenders will stay on the UCLA campus during the length of the camp.
